The sun came out!

We've slowly been melting away the snow here, but some areas are still a bit messy. Some lanes on the freeway had closed lanes that were full of snow that had been plowed.

A week ago Friday, I met Mac at Zengo for Happy Hour. Loved it! It's right at the top of the escalator at our metro stop.

This was called Angry Zengo, very creamy and yummy, topped with a chipotle sauce.

Anita...here's the gorgeous bulb you sent us! All four have popped out now and it looks awesome.

This was our Valentine's Day dinner at Cafe Atlantico...
The theme was Carnivale...I believe I was ready! =)
The was the first course, a quail egg in a tasty sauce.

Course number two, "Love Potion". How cute, two small tubes with a mango puree sitting in a little beaker with dry ice.

From our table we could see into the kitchen on one side and on the other side we could see the rest of the dining room.

David Gregory from Meet the Press was having dinner there with his wife.

After a plate of lobster, fish and crab, came this plate of braised ox tail and tongue! So flavorful, very good stuff.

And finally, dessert. A dollop of ice cream drizzled with raspberry sauce and a little flan.

This past week I was in Williamsburg doing some work at the house. Tomorrow Mac and I will head down there to finish cleaning out the house. UGH! We hope to be finished up by Wednesday. Yeahhhhhhh!
That's about it for us. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Ahhhh, February...

All I can say is WOW!

Last Friday all government offices closed at noon and as of today, they haven't reopened. Friday, I sat at Starbucks in Chinatown waiting for Mac to arrive via the metro. Just before he got there it started lightly snow.

This is my view from Starbucks of the metro station.

When Mac got there, we walked a few blocks to Safeway to complete our stock up for the weekend/snow. We got there, I got in line with the cart and Mac walked around picking up what we needed...it took one hour to get to the check out stand!! Crazy!

This was the view when we got home from the store, no accumulation...yet
The next morning...

My perfect snow flake! (On the window in the guest room)
Just outside our door...
Across the street this bike was nearly covered!
Mac left our mark on this car window...
Awww!
This is how big some of the drifts were, up to my waist!
Street view, no plows in sight!
All of the trees are covered, looks pretty, but in some neighborhoods many branches broke off from the weight of the snow and caused power lines to go down. (luckily, we haven't had any problems)
Looking at our building, you can see how some cars are completely covered!
The crews were out clearing the pathways to the bus stops.
YES!! The sun came out! I think that's the post office building, it's a beautiful one.
This is one of our favorite buildings, built in the 1890's, it's the Dorothy I. Height Building on Penn Ave.
Today it snowed and the wind was so strong it was like a blizzard out there! Up to 40 mile an hour winds and we couldn't see to the end of the street. We didn't even leave the house. Thank goodness we made the trek out to Borders yesterday so I could pick up some books to occupy my time!
Between reading, watching movies and playing Scrabble, we've just been enjoying this quiet time. Today is the first day we haven't been out of the house, I'm hoping the sun comes out tomorrow so we can take a walk.
We hear there's more snow coming next week and we're having the most snow than DC has had in over 100 years! Already over 54 inches and counting.
That's about it for us, we do have reservations for Valentine's Day, so we're hoping the next few days get better!
