October 2010

Wow, well...October was beautiful around here. Mac's sisters, Pam & Kim flew in and we all went to the Jon Stewart Rally to Restore Sanity. The mall was packed! Here's me in the crowd...

Dinner at Fado's...Megan

October was Breast Cancer Month...the White House was lit up pink.

I happen to have on my Avon Breast Cancer Walk t-shirt...coincidence?

Check out this guy! We had on sweatshirts and he's standing there in nothing but shorts! Brrrrrrr! He's standing in front of a park and on the other side of the park is the front of the White House and behind that you can see part of the Washington Monument.

Yes, this is what you can see in your nation's capital!

On the weekends we love to walk from Chinatown to Georgetown. Dean and Deluca is our stop in G-town for a quick bite before continuing our walk.

Next stop Rosslyn (Arlington), we decided to check out Roosevelt Island. Walking across the bridge you can look back and see my office...far right, white building behind the black building.

Another view, Georgetown from the bridge...

The island is beautiful, it's like you're in the woods in the middle of the city.

And we're walking the trail...

Roosevelt's Monument
That's about it for October! Come on winter...we want some snow. =)

September (This was in the queue to be posted, but just realized it wasn't there!)

We are loving the fall weather! In the fall in DC, it's all about outdoor cafes...we love it.

Eastern Market area sidewalk cafe.

Asian Spice patio

We celebrated Mac's birthday at a beautiful place near our apartment, Corduroy.

Me, Mac, Scott and Megan...we clean up pretty good!

Street festival - Arts on Foot, DC

Did I mention Mac is now making WINE?

And we also made some Limoncello and Khalua...

Mmmm, Limoncello..Mac had to zest 14 lemons for this!
Raspberry Khalua!
And that was the end of September!

End of a Great Summer!

I can't believe summer is over!

We had so much fun, check out the slideshow posted on the right side of the blog, it's got a lot of pics from all of our adventures.

We kicked off July with a dinner with our friends Diana and Wes, then went to my office in Rosslyn to watch the fireworks. Awesome to see, we'd never seen the DC fireworks and they did not disappoint.

We had a visit from Dad & Pam. We walked their legs off! (sorry about that you two)

Mac and the kids went to California, and Justin and I met up with them for a long weekend. Always good times, wine, poker, great meals and lots of laughter!
Dinning girls at the beach...

Dinning boys...

We followed that up with a visit from Brandon and Bre (Brenda's two oldest)...Brandon in our pool

Bre and I did some shopping
We also explored more in DC and found some new places to eat like Cafe du Parc and Asia 9, also new exhibits like the Norman Rockwell exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery...that was really cool to see in person and Madeline Albrieghts pin collection (which she has a book about). And we finally went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. BEAUTIFUL! (pics of most of these are in the slideshow)
So check out the slideshow and let me know what you think. It's super easy to make your own. Make one and send it to me! I'd love to see some of your pics.
That's about it for now, we did a 7.5 mile walk today and Mac already went to bed! I'm not far behind.
Good night!

Time Flies!

WOW, how have I not posted since April? I've been a little busy, but come on!

Let me start with May.
We've attending a couple of Nationals baseball games. Ya gotta have a Ben's Chili Bowl Half Smoked All the WAY! (and a glass of wine) Take me out to the ball game!

And of course their chili cheese fries...

And you have to have your pic taken with Big Head Teddy Roosevelt!

And of course ya have to stay for the fireworks!

We went to a Hawaiian festival at the American Indian museum...this place is really beautiful. There wasn't much to the festival and it was a little dark inside, so those pics didn't turn out.

We did manage to borrow a lei for a pic, we couldn't handle waiting in line with all the little kids to make our own.

Followed by lunch at Harry's...nice place to sit on the sidewalk and have a bite.

Me likey!

Memorial Day weekend, a night bike ride by the momuments...this was at the WWII Memorial.

Memorial Day Parade with Kimm and Victor

We're ready! (and it was hot!)

Marine Corps Band
Williamsburg Fife and Drum
That's about it for May. Next week I'll do my June update and we'll be caught up!
Hope everyone is doing well!

Busy in DC

I got a job! Woooooo....finally. I'm working in HR at BAE Systems US HDQ in Rosslyn, love it! Beautiful building and looks like it will be great benefits. (this is a temp to perm position)

After working for two weeks, I went with Mac to Texas. He was there for a helicopter conference and we had already bought my ticket before I got my job, so they let me have the week off.

Mac by the pool reading my Vanity Fair

Downtown Fort Worth, Reatta's rooftop bar

While downtown I got to meet the Governor of Texas, Rick Perry...and his gun!

Goofin around downtown after dinner with friends

Us with my niece who just turned 13...Breanna Kay

Keith and Brenda invited us to Keith's graduation...his mom, the kids, mom and Charles, me and Justin
We also took in the Andy Warhol exhibit in Fort Worth. We weren't supposed to take pictures, but...
This past weekend we've had Mac's sister Kim and mom Anita here visiting us in DC. We had so much fun with them...we walked them all over to some of our favorite places including a walk through Old Town Alexandria. (I left my camera battery in TX, so I don't have any pics!)
Hope everyone is doing well! Until next time...

Spring is here!

March 25th was our 2nd anniversary! Mac flew in from a business trip that night, so I met him at the airport with a little bottle of champagne...to US!

With the end of spring comes the cherry blossoms...

It was a little overcast and cool, but they were gorgeous!

We celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Zola. A great place right by our apartment.

You can click on this pic to see the pendant Mac gave me...

My dinner...crab cobb salad...very good!

We had a nice view (behind us) of the National Portrait Gallery

After dinner, we took the metro up to the American University and saw "Oklahoma"...it was OK, haha. It was actually pretty good. We had a great night.

We also managed to get tickets at one of the last viewings of the Terra Cotta Soldiers at the National Geographic Museum. So interesting.

Here's Mac with the fake soldier at the gift shop.

We also found a huge Asian market called Super H Mart. (behind us) They had all kinds of crazy stuff! Mac is on a stir fry kick, so we had to see if they had the obscure items he claimed to need.

The result, DELISH!

Sunset in Old Town Alexandria

More blooms...

The National Cathedral

Today Scott came up and we walked down to the tidal basin to see the blooms, then home for dinner.
Then home for dinner...Chef Mac hard at work! Ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans and home made dinner rolls! Fabulous!!

We hope everyone had a happy Easter!
