Last Saturday night Scott and his friends Andy and Chris went snowboarding, so they spent the night with us and got up early to head to the slopes. We took them to dinner at an Irish pub near the arch.
Mac split Guinness ice cream with them...looked pretty good.
Chris, Scott and Andy at the pub
The next night, we had dinner at Rosa Mexicano with John & Kathy. Mac made us a lemon cake.
Me with Megan and Maleah...they spent the night with us Monday night...Maleah has been living in LA so she was cold!
Thursday night we went to Ford's Theater to see A Christmas Carol. (lobby of the theater)
Mac posing in the museum below the stage with a photo of Gen. George McClellen (aka Little Mac)
Looking up from our seats at the box where Lincoln was shot.
Our view of the stage. It was a great performance, we really enjoyed it!
Love this t-shirt they had in the museum...funny.
Mac with his glasses, very studious...haha
Mac got off work early Friday as the east coast was getting ready for a major snow storm. We hit the grocery store and last night got into the hot tub up on the roof...then the snow started. It was so beautiful.
This morning when we got up, this was the view from our apartment.
After coffee and breakfast, we bundled up...
Just a few blocks from our apartment.
I'm so short, in some areas the snow was a little deep!
The arch covered in snow...
White out!
Of course we had to walk to the grocery store for a few more things...
On the way home, Mac helping some guys push someone who was stuck.
After lunch we went back out for a walk. It was just so beautiful...Mac was a sport. These are some of the bikes you can rent all over the district...although not much use today.
Snow Angel!!
Love this pic of the Capitol and the girl with the red umbrella.
Mac catching snowflakes...
As we walked down the national mall there were people building snowmen and playing football...
Also cross country skiing, you can barely see the Washington Monument on the right side of this pic, it was snowing so much you could barely see the monuments.
A snow plow!
In front of the White House.
There it is....so pretty!
So that's about it for us. The museums and most everything else is shut down, so besides walking around, we've just been relaxing...reading, etc. Thank goodness for eggnog and brandy!
We got a package today from Mac's mom, Anita...she sent us some amaryllis's and her super yummy rum cake! (my favorite!!) Thank you Anita! I put the things you sent the kids in their stockings along with the taffy Martin & MiMi sent them.
We leave for Texas on Christmas morning. I'll be updating while we're in Texas. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! Be safe and we'll talk to you soon.
