Snow Snow Snow!!!

Busy, busy!

Last Saturday night Scott and his friends Andy and Chris went snowboarding, so they spent the night with us and got up early to head to the slopes. We took them to dinner at an Irish pub near the arch.

Mac split Guinness ice cream with them...looked pretty good.

Chris, Scott and Andy at the pub

The next night, we had dinner at Rosa Mexicano with John & Kathy. Mac made us a lemon cake.

Me with Megan and Maleah...they spent the night with us Monday night...Maleah has been living in LA so she was cold!

Thursday night we went to Ford's Theater to see A Christmas Carol. (lobby of the theater)
Mac posing in the museum below the stage with a photo of Gen. George McClellen (aka Little Mac)

Looking up from our seats at the box where Lincoln was shot.

Our view of the stage. It was a great performance, we really enjoyed it!

Love this t-shirt they had in the museum...funny.

Mac with his glasses, very studious...haha

Mac got off work early Friday as the east coast was getting ready for a major snow storm. We hit the grocery store and last night got into the hot tub up on the roof...then the snow started. It was so beautiful.
This morning when we got up, this was the view from our apartment.

After coffee and breakfast, we bundled up...

Just a few blocks from our apartment.

I'm so short, in some areas the snow was a little deep!

The arch covered in snow...

White out!

Of course we had to walk to the grocery store for a few more things...

On the way home, Mac helping some guys push someone who was stuck.

After lunch we went back out for a walk. It was just so beautiful...Mac was a sport. These are some of the bikes you can rent all over the district...although not much use today.

Snow Angel!!

Love this pic of the Capitol and the girl with the red umbrella.

Mac catching snowflakes...

As we walked down the national mall there were people building snowmen and playing football...

Also cross country skiing, you can barely see the Washington Monument on the right side of this pic, it was snowing so much you could barely see the monuments.

A snow plow!

In front of the White House.

There it is....so pretty!
So that's about it for us. The museums and most everything else is shut down, so besides walking around, we've just been relaxing...reading, etc. Thank goodness for eggnog and brandy!
We got a package today from Mac's mom, Anita...she sent us some amaryllis's and her super yummy rum cake! (my favorite!!) Thank you Anita! I put the things you sent the kids in their stockings along with the taffy Martin & MiMi sent them.
We leave for Texas on Christmas morning. I'll be updating while we're in Texas. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! Be safe and we'll talk to you soon.

December is here...

I can't believe this year is almost over! Just a few more weeks till Christmas and we'll be off to Texas.

Here's what we've been up to...

Mac and I found a new mexican place...Oyamel. It's a few blocks from the mall.

Mac had fried grasshopper tacos! ewwww

Cheers

We had dinner with Kim, Ash, Jessie and TJ last Friday night.

After dinner, the tree lighting ceremony and fireworks at Oyster Point...

oooohhhh...ahhhhh

Saturday was Ashley's baby shower...she's due in January.

Mac and I drove home after the shower and it started snowing!! We drove back and had dinner with one of Mac's co-workers, John and his family. I wish I would have snapped a pic of the snow mom and daughter they built. They were huge!

Sunday we took the metro over to Columbia Heights and found this little Empanada place...
That's about all we have for now. Just getting ready for our trip to Texas. See ya later!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a nice quiet Thanksgiving. Scott and Megan came over and shared dinner with us. Justin is in Granbury with the Ivies.
Last night Mac made the pie on the right (sweet potato and pecan pie) and the one on the left this morning (carmel pear)

Then Mac made us a yummy appetizer...toasted french bread with a layer of brie and cream cheese, topped with a cranberry relish...mmmmm

Ck out that turkey! Oh so good!! =P

Megan helped...awww

No, this isn't some crazy mountain man...it's Scott!

After slaving away all day, Mac's masterpiece is ready to be served!

Cheers!

After dinner we took a walk around Chinatown.

Megan was full, but those ducks hanging in the window looked yummy!

Soooo, the kids have hit the road, the dishes are done and here we are watching Elf. We hope everyone's Thanksgiving was a tasty as ours! =) Christmas here we come!!

After snorkling, enjoying a Tequilla Sunrise on the way back to port.

An after dinner swim

Our last pic, breakfast before we docked and headed home.

Before we left LA, we had dinner with our nephew Michael. He took us to a cool place called La Cave. It was so cool, like a speak easy, you take a stair case down a couple of flights and you end up in a windowless room...the lighting is red and they play Dean Martin music. http://www.lacaverestaurant.com/History.html
So, now we're home and I'm looking for a job. Mac and I picked up everything for our Thanksgiving dinner today...he's going to brine our turkey this year, should be interesting. Tune in Thursday!

Hope everyone has a great holiday!
xoxo
