Happy Thanksgiving!

I wrote this yesterday, but for some reason blog spot had a problem and I couldn't post it till today:

Yippeeee, now work today...or tomorrow!! So happy turkey day to everyone.

Megan had to work yesterday and tomorrow, so she stayed in Fairfax and had a gathering at her house with her mom and Scott. Soooo, Mac and I got up and this morning and started cooking. Yes, and I helped!! hahaha

I found a recipe that sounded so good in the November Martha Stewart magazine. It's a turkey breast, butterflied. Then you spread out a layer of dressing (which has italian sausage, golden raisins, sliced mushrooms, onion, celery, bread crumbs, roasted pecans, thyme and white wine), roll the turkey breast tightly, wrap it in cheese cloth, and bind the ends with twine. Rub it with butter and put it in the oven for 2 hours. When it's done you slice it and serve it with a chutney, which we also made...cranberries, onion, golden raisins, shallot, granny smith apple, lemon juice, lemon zest, thyme, and sugar (we used a new sugar replacer I found online). OMG it was delicious!

Cooking the Pecan, Italian Sausage Stuffing...mmmm

This is the Cranberry Chutney, mmm

So, all that plus green beans, yams, rolls, cranberry molded salad (Mac's mom's recipe), pumpkin and pecan pie.

Sugar free Pecan Pie...delicious!

Before dinner we took a walk through CW. The place was packed! I love CW during the holidays because all of the buildings decorate their windows with wreaths and they all decorate them differently.

Window dressed up for the holidays. If you click on the pictures, it makes the images bigger so you can see the detail.

This is the shop were they sell bonnets/hats. I bought one for Bre when she visited us a few years ago. Their swag over the door has two bonnets. Cute!

Wreath at one of the pubs, it has oyster shells on it.

The feast begins!

The Turkey and Stuffing!! Delicious =)

Yams

Tonight we took our walk at CW and once again, there were tons of people everywhere. The weather has been beautiful and they have one big tree in Merchant's Square.

Aww, Mac bought me my favorite hot choc at Blue Talon. It's sooo yummy, I told Mac I want to take a bath in it!

Today we just watched movies and hung out. Mac still wanted to fix a traditional Turkey and Dressing, so it just came out of the oven and he's pulling it all together. He rocks!
After dinner we're taking the boys to see the new James Bond movie, that's about all we got going on right now. We're happy to hear that Mac's mom is doing well and baking her pumpking pie and everyone else is doing well. We hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

Birthday weekend

Mac made it home Friday night about 945, so I had some drinks with friends and waited on his flight. We were right across from the airport in Newport News, so I ran over and surprised him when he landed I was there to meet him. awwww
Saturday morning we got up and had our breakfast and coffee and worked on placing the rocks in the tank. I bought Mac this huge rock for his tank, but when it got here it was in pieces. He bought some special epoxy for tanks and pieced some of the bigger ones together. Anyway, the fish are finally starting to get used to it and the Wrasse is swimming all through the holes.
There's Mac in the background.

Mac made chicken and dumplings for dinner. Mmmmm, it's so yummy when it's cold outside, and baby it's cold outside! We actually had some snow flurries yesterday.

Tonight Scott came down and we took the boys to dinner for Justin's big 21st birthday today! woohooo

First dinner:

I made a chocolate cake for Justin, blow out those candles old timer!!

So Mac and I are watching the Redskins game...Cowboys won earlier, yipeeee!! Then we're going to head out to take a walk at CW.
Happy birthday to all our November babies!!! Mom, Honkie, Donna, Jamie, Justin, Valerie, Kelly, Cooper, Christopher

Ready for the weekend!

This past Monday I left for Los Angeles to audit a supplier and Mac headed to Phoenix for business.
When I got back someone had posted a sign on my cube wall, thanks Ashley! I love it =)
I made it back Thursday night, but not before I had the chance to check out Michael's school in Orange and have dinner with him at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Michael and me...

Ck out Michael's steak! Yummmmmm

Michael attends Chapman University which is about 30 minutes away from LA airport, which is where I was staying.

You can take a virtual tour of Michael's campus by clicking on this link, click on menu and select locations.

I got back Thursday, and Friday night we had a gathering for Christian's 30th birthday.

Carrie, Christian and Ashley

Ashley and me...

Mr. and Mrs. Udovich...awww

So Mac tried to fly home Friday night, but got stuck in Phillie. He made it back this morning. We picked up our new media center at the Crate and Barrel warehouse and got it into place. Dear lord! It weighs over 200 pounds, poor Mac and Justin. =(

Tonight we had margs and burgers at Green Leafe, and now we're relaxing at home watching Andromeda Strain.

The leaves are falling like crazy, it's wet from all the rain we've been getting, but it's about 70 degrees...so we love that part.

Tomorrow I'm heading to an open house with a bunch of girls and later Mac and I are watching the Cowboys beat the Redskins! Wooooooohoooooo!! ;-)

Have a great weekend! xoxo

November is here...

And the weather has been strange. Raining and cold one day, sunny and 60's another, but I'm liking it. With the exception of the wind! It's blowing all the beautiful leaves off the trees. =(

Soooo, Mac came home Friday night from travel and we got drinks and a bite at the Green Leafe. Saturday we got up and drove up to Crate & Barrel in Richmond to buy a piece of furniture with our gift certificates. Mac and I have been debating over what to put the TV on, since I moved here almost 4 years ago! We finally found something we both like. It's perfect for us and we think it will match everything well. We're picking it up next Saturday. Life is good.

Here it is:

Saturday was Megan's boyfriend, Aaron's, birthday. So after we left Richmond, we drove up to Fairfax. We got a tour of their new house they moved into recently with their roommates. It's so nice! Very roomy, and kitchen has gorgeous granite counter tops.

We took the Metro to the Capitol Hill Brewing Co. http://www.capcitybrew.com/capitolhill.php for dinner with everyone. We really like this place, we had been to another location in DC a few years ago, but we like the location of this one better.

On the Metro

Megan, Aaron and friends...

Awww, so cute!

After dinner we drove back and got home around 1am! I hope Aaron is worth it! Just kidding, we had a great time and their friends were all very friendly and welcoming. Good times. Happy 25th B-day Aaron! =)

Today Mac made English Muffins for breakfast and mini Pizza's for dinner. Tasty!

Halloween

Well our Halloween was pretty quiet. We had a few trick or treaters.

Here's one of Mac's co-workers that lives down the street with his sweet little baby candy corn!

We also went to our friend Jessie's 30th birthday party Saturday...

TJ and Jessie at the party

Trees at CW...gorgeous!

Justin and I got up and went to vote at 630...here we are after we voted...perky huh? This was a historic moment, this was Justin's first presidential vote and ummm, mine too! LOL

Tonight after work...martini night at Red Star...

We voted! woohooooo

That's about it, Mac is out of town till Friday night, so it's pretty quiet. I'm off to bed. Have a good one!
