Back to work...

We had a fabulous weekend! Mac flew home Friday night, and we had dinner at Blue Talon for my birthday. Which he missed because he was out of town on the 19th, but he got a pass on that since he sent flowers to my office. awww

So we had a nice dinner...Mac had shrimp and polenta (grits) and I had chicken, mushrooms & asparagas crepes...yummy! Then took a walk at New Town. It was great weather.

Saturday I went to Salon Vivace for a facial and manicure and lunch with Ashley. As we were leaving the Green Leafe, this hunkie guy in a silver Infiniti drove up to give me a little bag from White House/Black Market, one of my favorite stores with a gift card. Yeahhhh for me!! Thanks Mac!! You rock sir =)

Saturday afternoon laid out on the deck and then we ran errands and looked at some furniture. We watched Fools Gold and American Werewolf in London (which Mac had never seen). Today another beautiful day, we did our 14 mile bike ride, went to see Iron Man (we love it) then Mac made yummy Chicken Enchiladas.

So that's our story for this week...only 5 working days till we leave for California. Two week vacation, yeehaw!

FYI

Just wanted to add a link to an interesting story on MSNBC.

Topic:
Weight-loss surgery slashes cancer risk. Obese patients who undergo weight-loss surgery cut their cancer risk by 80 percent, a new study finds.

Several people I know are interested in weight-loss surgery. Hope this helps!

Major Milestone

All - Five years ago today I had the pleasure of sitting next to one Mac Dinning on an American Airlines flight to Phoenix, Arizona. Five years! Who knew that plane ride would turn in to be the best thing that had ever happened to me. =)

Speaking of Mac, he's on the road...left today, back Friday. It's been a busy week, but great weather. I'm thinking about taking a bike ride at 7...it's barely 80 degrees and no humidity. Love it!

One of my co-workers had his bike out front today and I couldn't resist! I guess this is what I'd look like if I was a biker chick? Really...side saddle?

That's about it! Hump day is almost over and I'll be doing some work on my NG laptop after I get back from riding my bike.

Have a great week!

Happy Father's Day!

Megan came down late Friday night and spent the night.

Saturday morning we went down to the Farmer's Market at Colonial Williamsburg. We were looking for fresh peppers, but we came home with goat cheese spread, & crab cakes.

We stopped off at the Chef's Tent, they had some yummy samples. Chilled Cantelope soup with goat cheese. It was tastey.

Checking out herbs. Mac was holding up traffic to take my pic! LOL

We took Megan down to the new Green Leafe in New Town.

Good food

Looks like Megan is singing a song to her daddy!

Mac made us a fabulous dinner today. Ribs, corn and coleslaw...and peach cobbler

It was such a nice night, we ate out on the deck...

We've had a great weekend, we did our 14 mile bike ride today and had some great meals with the kids. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Health Waves

At Northrop Grumman we have a group called Health Waves. They have lunch and learn type meetings throughout the shipyard and initiate different health directives. Right now they have put us on teams and we get points for activities, losing weight, etc. The team with the most points at the end of 6 weeks win gas cards. I have no idea how much it is, but every penny counts these days, so I'm in!

We've all weighed in and had our waist measured, and today we did cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure. I've never had my cholesterol checked so I was anxious to see how that would turn out. I'm please to say I did very well! My total cholesterol is < 100 (<200 is desirable), my HDL cholesterol is 46 (50+ is desirable), my blood sugar was 66 (70-110 is normal), and my blood pressure was 90/60 (120/80 is desirable). My blood pressure has always been low. =) My waist is 32 inches and my information says for women it should be less than 35 inches. They also did body fat and body mass index (BMI). My body fat is 30.4% (25-28 is desirable for women) and my BMI is 24.4 (18.5-24.9 is considered in the "normal" range). Just before I had surgery last year my BMI was over 47 (anything over 40 is considered morbid obesity). So I'm very happy with my results.

My team (The Engergizers) is off and running! If you want to check your BMI, here' s a link to use: http://www.asbs.org/html/bmi.html

Mac is home this week, Justin and Scott have been hanging around too. It's been dang hot out here! Monday and Tuesday were awful, so humid I was dripping and that sun was HOT! Thankfully the humidity is very low today and there's a breeze. Of course this has been the week I've had to go out in the shipyard and walk around in the heat with an auditor! June is a big birthday month! Daddy was on the 4th, and his wife Pam on the 10th, Big Charlie is the 13th (Friday the 13th! ooooo), Stack on the 15th, Uncle Jerry on the 29th, oh and Uncle Danny and Susan Uribe too...and I'm sure I'm leaving someone out...sorry if I've omitted anyone.

So happy birthday to everyone! Have a great week. =)

Saturday Night

We've had a nice relaxing weekend...dinner last night at Cheeseburger in Paradise. Yummy...

We sat out for about 45 minutes on the deck today, that was all we could handle. Summer is here and the humitidy is killer! Indiana Jones movie and Chilis tonight. Me with two of my boys...

Justin studying the menu

Mac and his drink, looks like he's already had a few too many!

So that's about it, political shows tomorrow and maybe a little more time on the deck, and just getting ready for next week. Mac has to go to DC for the day on Monday, but I think he'll be home the rest of the week.

Talk to ya later! =)

June 1st

What a nice relaxing weekend. Today we slept in, had breakfast and coffee on the deck and then I got to work in the garage.

So the first thing I came across...my boyfriend from high schools old work shirt. I used to sleep in this thing, and I haven't been able to button it in 20 years!

Next, my mom will love this...my Girl Scout sash. wooo! Go Buttercups!

And my record collection, one of my favorite albums...Sonny and Cher!

After a few hours of organizing the garage, I came inside to check on Mac. He is on a new kick, he wants to make bread and pizza dough. He's making his first attempt today. French bread.

Here he is doing his thing...

Looks like he knows what he's doing! I love it =)

Now it has to be covered up for 45 minutes to rise

Is this the most beautiful french bread? Fresh out of the oven!

He also made tortilla soup...yum!

Mac enjoying his fabulous french bread!

Oh, I almost forgot...I FINALLY hit my goal of 139 pounds lost...which means I now weigh 139 pounds and I've lost HALF my original weight! Yeah!!

So we're eating and about to watch a movie. Have a great week!
