DC Weekend

Hello! We had a fun weekend. Mac and I got up and had our coffee Saturday morning then we drove up to DC. We stayed at the Marriott in Crystal City, which is just a few miles from the monuments. The hotel has this cool underground shopping area and the metro line runs right through it.
Mac look out our room...we were on the top floor and in the distance we could see the Capitol bldg.
We took the metro to the Smithsonian Museums area and walked around:
We had lunch at an apparent "Texas" establishment called the Austin Grill. Pretty tasty and our waiter, Elliott, was so adorable. (that's him in the background)
We loved the menu...they even had a Margarita named after LBJ...
We realized it was our 1 month (and 1 day) anniversary...
Back to the hotel to relax and read the paper before dinner...
We went to Alexandria this morning. Cute little town with lots of shops and places to eat. Here's a link if you want to check it out: http://visitalexandriava.com/
This is a shop called La Casa Bella we went in, loved it! Mac bought me a bracelet for our 1 month anniversary. awww
Here's my bracelet...not sure why I look hung over...no lipstick maybe?
This is a great bakery we dropped in to for coffee...The European Gourmet Bakery:
mmmmm...
On the way home we stopped by Pierce's BBQ to pick up dinner. It's a Williamsburg staple!

That was our weekend. Yesterday the weather was great (in the 80s), but a storm came in last night and rained/stormed and today it was cold and dreary. Mac doesn't know it yet but we're about to go for a walk at CW.
Have a great week, talk to ya soon!

Wednesday night

I didn't realize I haven't posted since the 13th! Where have I been? (no where)
We didn't go camping, the weather was blah, lots of rain and yuck. It's pretty much been cold and overcast since we got back from Hawaii.

It's very quiet around here this week...Justin is in Texas helping his grandparents, Mac is on a business trip that started in Arizona and today he's in San Jose. He just called and he's having dinner with his family.

So, it's just me and my sugar free ice cream tonight. =(

Work is about all I have going on, laundry and trying to get organized. That's about it.

Since we have a million pics from Hawaii...and we wish we were back there, I'll leave ya with a couple.

After the almost hour long hike, we finally made it to the Green Sand Beach:

Mac way out there...

I'm trying to upload a video...but I'm having problems...check back tomorrow...Here's the video from the top of Diamond Head, this is what we've deemed "One of Mac's 360's":

It's Sunday night and I'm still working on pictures. Also been working on my final project for my last class in this session (3rd session of 6 sessions) for my project management class. =(

Other than that, not much to report. Still waiting on that last pound!! Tuesday night is my monthly support group up at VCU, which is the hospital where I had my surgery. We get together each month, I like going...it's great to see other people in the same place as me. Everyone trades ideas and they have different speakers. This month is the annual clothing exchange, where anyone who wants to brings clothes that don't fit and give them away to others that need them.

Mac made some delicious dinners this weekend, Saturday was Papadeaux three citrus breaded fish, and tonight he made pollo a las rajas (which is chicken on a bed of peppers, onions and a chorizo cream sauce). Both were great, but the chicken was scrumptious! This man rocks! =)

We did take a walk Saturday around CW, it was great weather. It was good to get outside.

We're thinking about going camping this Friday. Tune in for that one...

Where's my mai tai?

Well it's Thursday night and we've been back from Hawaii just over a week and we're still going through mai tai withdrawls!

It's been a busy week at work for both of us. Trying to catch up.

I've scared Mac! I've been having a pain in my shoulder, down my arm since the last week of February. My doctor tried cortisone, but that didn't do it so he sent me to a neurosurgeon. I came home from that appointment yesterday with a crazy Chinese torture device that hooks over a door, with a pulley - one end a bag filled with water and the other a harness that slides on my head. I have to sit there for 20 minutes 3 times a day, and this is supposed to relieve the pressure on my 7th vertebrae. I've only done it 3 times so far, but I can actually tell a difference. I did it this morning when I got up and I heard Mac turn over, so I knew he saw me. LOL He sent me a text later and told me it scared him. Luckily I can still laugh!

Here's what it looks like, have a good giggle...

I've been trying to organize the wedding pics and making dupes for the family and I'm also putting together an official wedding announcement (with a pic) to send out too. So look for those in your mailbox!

Sunday night update

We had a nice relaxing weekend. I spent most of my time working on our Hawaii trip slide show, I went to work today...while we were gone to Hawaii my department moved to a new building so I had some unpacking to do and I had to get some things unloaded for my boss. It was over cast rainy and cold. =(

I didn't have a chance to advise my latest stats! I've now lost just over 100 inches overall!! Wow...amazing. I'm only one pound away from my goal of 139 lost. I just got of the treadmill and my face is still red, but here's my latest picture.

So that's all I've got. Mac is heading out of town mid week for one night, and I've got class tomorrow night so no fun for me.
Have a great week!

Home and Getting Back in the Groove

My last post was actually on Friday, but Saturday here...so it looked like I was posting Saturday. We got to Maui Saturday morning and our first stop was Jack in the Box! We don't have them in VA...we had to grab a couple of tacos!

This was our room...very nice:

Our view: (look how cute his face is!)

We went for a walk at Lahina, Mac LOVES the big banyan tree...

Later that night we went to the Old Lahina Luau and it was great!

One of our favorite spots...lounging pool side:

Dinner at Tommy Bahamas (it was yummy)

After dinner we went for a dip in the pool and then sat on the balcony...

A walk around the property and next door at the Waldorf Astoria...shwanky

Last day...we went to Leilanis for Mai Tais and fish tacos

Our final adventure, a whale watching cruise...

We have some video, but we haven't cleaned it up yet...here is a still photo of a whale tale. We actually saw several "breaches"...which is where the Humpback jumps completely straight up out of the water. These things are the size of a school bus! It was amazing, and the weather was great.

After the whale watching we checked our bags at the airport and went to dinner in Pa'ia at a place Mac found called Mama's Fish House. It was fantastic! Loved it, a view of the ocean and the food was yum yum!

Note: Mac retired is poor, sad shoes. They have tracked a lot of miles! From the dam walk in CA to the Green Sand Beach hike, those shoes have seen it all.

Farewell...we'll miss you!

Connecting through DFW, mom and Brenduh came by for lunch during our layover...wow, someone has a tan!

Check out how much room I have?!!?
I'll close with one of my favorite sunsets...from the Luau...
It's Friday night, I have work to do this weekend to get caught up. Mac and I are just lounging around on the couches, watching tv and perusing the internet.
We'd like to thank everyone for all the emails, phone calls and cards! We really appreciate you thinking of us.
Anyone who wants to view the wedding pics...here's the link to the online photo album:
